Teel Time: Episode 40

On Episode 40 of Teel Time with David Teel, Teel and Jonathan Heeter talk about the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League stop at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton. Teel talks about the tragic death of James Hampton, a player from a Charlotte-based AAU team who died after collapsing on the court during the first day of the session. Teel talked to coaches who knew Hampton, including Hampton University coach Buck Joyner, who was recruiting Hampton. The guys also talk about U.Va. commit Casey Morsell and Chesapeake's Cameron Thomas, and how both played at the EYBL stop in Hampton. We talk about ACC finances after the league's tax returns were made public. Can the ACC catch up to the other Power Five conferences? We wrap up the episode with a look at the NBA Finals. Teel talks about the recent Supreme Court decision on sports gambling and how Virginia will react to the ruling. The guys talk college football recruiting and discuss why Penn State has been so successful recruiting in Virginia. Teel Time: Episode 37

On Episode 37 of the Teel Time podcast, David Teel and Jonathan Heeter talk about the NFL Draft and look at Virginia Tech's historic night in Texas. The Hokies became the first school in history to have two brothers drafted in the first round of the same NFL Draft with Tremaine Edmunds headed to the Buffalo Bills and Terrell Edmunds landing in Pittsburgh. We talk about the topline quarterbacks and try to figure out the difference in Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson, and we talk about the other Virginia and Virginia Tech players who were selected. We talk about the fallout of the resignation of Virginia Tech assistant football coach Galen Scott in the aftermath of his admitted extramarital affair. With the Hokies already through spring practice, how good of a candidate can the Hokies draw with the fall practice approaching? We put a bow on spring practice for U.Va., and Teel talks about his sitdown this week with Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock. We talk about the upcoming ACC Network and how cable viewership numbers and cutting the cable cord could affect the network. And, we manage to get in a little NBA playoffs conversation.
