Teel Time: Episode 49
The 49th episode of the Teel Time podcast is a reunion as around 100 years of Daily Press experience come together to talk about the retirement announcement of William and Mary football coach Jimmye Laycock.
David Teel, who has covered Laycock as a columnist for a few decades, is joined by longtime Daily Press sportswriter Dave Johnson, who currently covers the Tribe, and another longtime Daily Press sportswriter Dave Fairbank, who covered W&M and other local colleges when he retired in 2015.
The three Daves talk about Laycock's 38 years at W&M and put in perspective a career that included either coaching or coaching with three current NFL head coaches - Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh Steelers), Sean McDermott (Buffalo Bills) and Dan Quinn (Atlanta Falcons) - and former college coaches Frank Beamer, Bobby Ross, Bill Stewart and Ralph Friedgen.
